The battle lines are drawn the moment we pledge our allegiance to our advocate. We have an adversary who is, as 1Peter 5:8 warns, “seeking to devour us.” This is not something for us to fear, but to be mindful of. An advocate actively favors or fights for one who meets opposition. In John 14-18. Jesus tells His disciples He will send another Helper to them when He returns to the Father.

About the Author

Pastor Jack Rehill is an ordained Minister with the Assemblies of God. He earned his Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from Kings College and his Masters of Social Work from Marywood University. He also participated in a post-graduate program in Structural Family Therapy through Philadelphia Child Guidance and is certified as a Structural Family Therapist. He has served as President/CEO of the local subsidiary of the Volunteers of America Christian Social Service Agency, serving children, teens, and adults in various therapeutic settings. As a PA-licensed clinical social worker, Jack has worked in the mental health field & Christ-directed counseling for over 42 years.

When first saved, coming out of the “hippie” generation of the sixties, Jack desired to go straight into Bible College and ministry. However, the Lord very clearly told him to “stay in his course of study, and He would use me in that 170 The Advocate and The Adversary field.” Many years later, after accepting a position with Volunteers of America, he became a licensed minister. He says, “The Lord showed me that my desire to move into ministry from many years ago was happening.” Outside of his love for ministry, Jack is an avid exercise enthusiast: from racquetball to basketball to weightlifting.

Once in a while, he enjoys driving a Sprint Cup race car at Pocono Raceway at speeds of 150 mph. Jack and his wife Patti were married in August of 1971. They have four children & two granddaughters. Patti has been an Administrative Assistant at Harvest Church for nearly 20 years. Before Harvest, she earned her degree in nursing and worked in a variety of settings, from hospitals to home health.

Jack and Patti are beach lovers and try to get there as often as scheduling permits. They enjoy worship music, both contemporary and some of the old favorites from years past.

Patti loves to cook and bake, so they also love hosting people in our home to share a meal (and perhaps a game or two of Catch Phrase)!
